I worked during both my years at fidm… I had to. But I was a Merchandise Marketing student. My roommates were all Fashion Design student, one was even a PD (professional designation) and they all had a part-time job. You can try out a quarter and feel how things work out and then try to get a job your second quarter… either way, having a job is important as it gets you started on the right foot with building industry experience… even if it’s retail. ;-) good luck! xx
Any takers?
OKAY… I’ve been re blogging this tumblr like crazy. I just discovered his blog and I think it’s BRILLIANT. I mean, my #fidmlife one everything-FIDM… but his focuses on strictly his journey as a Visual Communication student. Right on. Go ahead, FOLLOW —> vcomfidm
Call FIDM, 213-624-1200 & ask to speak to an Admissions Advisor. There is always someone you can speak directly to. If not, shoot me an email… thefidmlife@gmail.com and I’ll tell you exactly who to ask for. My advisor, she’s AMAZING. I just can’t publish her name out here on this public tumblog. But, try calling again… it’s so unlike FIDM to not respond right away. Good Luck! Just let me know. :)

Orientation Day 1 - July 5, 2011
I got my FIDM Tote Bag on Orientation Day, along with my student planner and a whole bunch of other papers. I’m planning on being involve with the Student Council and MODE Magazine; it’s like taking ASB and Yearbook all over again just that it’s college now. Orientation was very formative in general about the first day of school and what to expect and policies and regulations, the list goes on.
College life is so different from high school. The people are more mature and basically you’re on your own now. I truly do feel like a college adult student now, OMG.
On Orientation Day I met the sweetest chill person ever. I met Nicole Young, and she to is majoring in Visual Communications like myself. We were excited that we were both in the same major, and what surprised us even more was that we both live in the same area. I live in West Covina, and she lives in Hacienda Heights by the mall, coolbeans. This sure is a small world we live in. We stuck to each other the rest of the day, and we did some networking, which means we exchanged phone numbers and we followed each other on twitter, holla!
Here’s a picture of Nicole:
I know right she looks like Rihanna.

Color and Design Theory - Thursdays at 12PM
So today was my first college day at FIDM and it went well. The class I took was Color and Design Theory. This class is a class that focuses on the principles and elements of color and design theory. I’m so excited, I love painting! I made two new friends today in class and I got my supplies today for this class.
Got my first project today which is due in two weeks. I am really looking forward to the next ten weeks in this class.
